Advanced Building Skins

Daniel Inocente presented at the 2018 Conference on Advanced Buildings Skins in Bern, Switzerland. His presentation focused on computational approaches to discrete continuities for supertall skyscrapers and design for structural performance, geometry, and constructability. He discussed the importance of relationships between geometric continuity and discrete singularities which often produce contradictory systems of behavior. He shared examples in which form, structure, and character are developed to operate concurrently. The Conference on Advanced Building Skins aims to contribute to a multidisciplinary, integrated planning approach to reducing the energy consumption of buildings. The annual international conference draws architects, engineers, scientists, and manufacturers from around the world.
