As a Professor of Practice in Space Architecture at The Design School, I am proud to contribute to the groundbreaking Master of Science in Design (MSD) program with a concentration in Space Architecture and Extreme Environments. This innovative program is designed for students driven to push the boundaries of design and engineering, shaping the future of human habitation in space and extreme environments.
The program fosters an interdisciplinary approach, connecting students to the emerging space sector through transformative partnerships and real-world applications. It prepares future pioneers to design habitats, systems, and structures that address the challenges of living beyond Earth while finding solutions to improve life on our planet.
Students explore critical topics such as resource utilization, human factors in space, microgravity effects, and psychological well-being in extreme conditions. Through hands-on projects and access to leading experts, they develop the skills to create inclusive, sustainable, and innovative designs that place humanity at the heart of interplanetary exploration.
This program reflects a bold vision for the future—empowering the next generation of designers to make lasting contributions to space exploration and Earth’s sustainability. I am honored to guide and collaborate with these visionary students as they embark on this exciting journey.
As part of The Design School at ASU’s forward-thinking curriculum, this course will delve into the discipline of Space Architecture, focusing on designing habitats for living and working in extreme environments. Students will explore the distinctive principles, challenges, and innovations in this exciting field.
Key Highlights of the Program:
